The Upanishad occupy a unique place in the history of spiritual and philosophical thought of India, nay the world. It is known that Upanishad form the concluding portions of the Veda, and therefore called the Vedanta or the end of the Veda. It Really contains the essence of the vedic teaching. The Teaching being the highest , was imparted at private sitting only to the qualified disciples. Besides, they are the foundation on which most of the later philosophies and religions of India rest.
